When to use a Spin-to-Win Popup?
A "Spin to Win" popup is a fantastic way to engage visitors and drive sales. It replaces a simple discount offer with an exciting prize wheel. Because it doesn't ask for an email, it's a zero-friction way to put a valuable coupon in a customer's hands.
This is the perfect popup to:
- Drive immediate sales by offering an instant, fun discount.
- Create a memorable and positive shopping experience.
- Convert hesitant first-time visitors into paying customers.
- Reduce visitor bounce rates by offering an engaging, interactive element.
How to set up the campaign?
The key is to set up your potential prizes (the "slices" of the wheel) first, and then configure the popup to award them.
Step 0: Create your coupon codes in PrestaShop
Before designing the popup, you must create a separate coupon code for each winning prize on your wheel. For example, you will need a Cart Rule for 15% off, one for 10% off, one for Free Shipping, etc.
- Navigate to Catalog > Distounts > Cart Rules in your back office and click Add new cart rule.
- Create your codes. For example: LUCKY15 for 15% off, SPIN2WIN10 for 10% off, and SPINSHIP for free shipping.
- Click Save. Your coupon codes are now ready.
Step 2: Design your popup
This interactive campaign uses multiple pages that work together: the main wheel where visitors start the play, and a separate result page for each potential prize.
- Customize the Wheel (Main View): On the main design tab, you will see the prize wheel itself. This is where you can edit the text for each prize slice (e.g., "15% OFF", "Free Shipping", "No Luck"). Customize the text and design to match your offer and brand.
- Configure the Prize Pages (Chance #1 - #6): In the editor, you will see additional tabs labeled "Chance #1" through "Chance #6". Each of these tabs is a separate page that corresponds to a prize slice on the wheel.
- Click on each "Chance" tab one by one.
- On this page, you must display the corresponding coupon code you created in Step 0. For example, on the page for the "15% OFF" prize, make sure you add the LUCKY15 code and encouraging text like "Congratulations! You won!".
- Repeat this process for all winning prize tabs.
The module's shuffle parameter handles the randomization for you automatically. By default, the probability is distributed evenly across all slices (e.g., a wheel with 6 slices gives each prize a ~16.7% chance).
Want to make a certain prize, like "10% OFF," more likely to win? Simply assign that same prize and coupon code to two different slices of the same prize on the wheel. This effectively doubles its chances of being the winning result.
Step 3: Set Triggers
In this step, we'll set the rules for when your popup appears. Let's begin by clicking on the Triggers tab.
1. Launch Popup
You have several powerful options, but for this campaign, select Before leaving the page (Exit-Intent). This is a highly effective choice. It presents the prize wheel as a fun, last-second reason for a visitor to stay and shop with their new discount. A Timed Delay (after 7-10 seconds) is also a great alternative.
2. Repeat Control
For this type of exclusive offer, it's crucial that a visitor only sees it once. To achieve this, start by enabling the "Prevent reopening" parameter. This setting prevents the popup from appearing again. We will combine this with a rule on the Targets tab to ensure it only appears once for each first-time visitor.
Step 4: Set Targets
Now that we've set when the popup appears, it's time to define who sees it and on which pages. Let's begin by clicking on the Targets tab.
- Target Pages: For a powerful welcome offer, we recommend showing this popup on your Homepage and Category pages.
- Target Audience: This is an excellent tool for customer acquisition. Configure the audience to show this popup to First-time visitors only. This encourages new shoppers to make their first purchase.
That's it! Your campaign is now live and ready to start boosting conversions on your store.
