When to use a Gamified Popup?

A gamified popup is a highly interactive way to offer a discount. This specific popup uses a sliding puzzle: a fun and familiar game where visitors slide tiles to reveal an image. Instead of simply showing a coupon, you challenge them to solve the puzzle first.

This is also a brilliant opportunity to showcase your brand. By using a high-quality image of a bestselling product or a lifestyle photo related to your shop, you subconsciously build product desire and strengthen the visual connection in the customer's mind while they play.

This makes the overall experience incredibly engaging and memorable. Because the customer has to "work" for the discount—and reveals your product in the process—they feel a sense of ownership and are much more likely to use the coupon.

This is the perfect popup to:

How to set up the campaign?

The setup for the sliding puzzle is incredibly simple. You only need to provide an image for the puzzle and a coupon code for the reward.

Step 0: Create your coupon codes in PrestaShop

Before designing the popup, you need the coupon code that will be revealed after the puzzle is solved.

  1. Navigate to Catalog > Distounts > Cart Rules in your back office and click Add new cart rule.
  2. Create your codes. For example: MYSTERY20 for 20% off.
  3. Click Save. Your coupon codes are now ready.

Step 1: Create your popup

Go to Creative Popup > Popups and create a new popup.

Step 2: Design your popup

This campaign uses two pages: the puzzle itself and the page that reveals the coupon code.

  • The Puzzle Page (First Tab): This is the main view your visitor sees. Your only task here is to select the 'your-image' layer and replace the placeholder with your own product or lifestyle photo. The module will automatically cut your image into square tiles for the sliding puzzle. It works perfectly with any image size.
  • The Second Page ("Choose Your Gift"): This page appears automatically after a visitor solves the puzzle. On this page, you must display the corresponding coupon code you created in Step 0. Make sure your code and encouraging text like "Congratulations! You've unlocked a special deal.".

    Step 3: Set Triggers

    In this step, we'll set the rules for when your popup appears. Let's begin by clicking on the Triggers tab.

    1. Launch Popup

    You have several powerful options, but for this campaign, select Before leaving the page (Exit-Intent). It's a perfect "last chance" to engage a visitor with a fun activity before they go. A Timed Delay (after 7-10 seconds) is also a great choice.

    2. Repeat Control

    For this type of exclusive offer, it's crucial that a visitor only sees it once. To achieve this, start by enabling the "Prevent reopening" parameter. This setting prevents the popup from appearing again. We will combine this with a rule on the Targets tab to ensure it only appears once for each first-time visitor.

    Step 4: Set Targets

    Now that we've set when the popup appears, it's time to define who sees it and on which pages. Let's begin by clicking on the Targets tab.

    • Target Pages: This is a great engagement tool for your busiest pages. We recommend showing it on your Homepage.
    • Target Audience: This is an excellent tool for customer acquisition. Configure the audience to show this popup to First-time visitors only.

    Step 5: Publish your campaign

    Once you're satisfied with your design, triggers, and targets, it's time to go live.

    1. Navigate to the top of the editor and find the "Published" switch.
    2. Click the switch to turn it green.
    3. Make sure to click the Save button in your editor to apply all your changes.

    That's it! Your campaign is now live and ready to start boosting conversions on your store.
